Super Bowl 57 Party Cocktails: Kansas City Iced Water and Philadelphia Citywide Special Shandy

February 07, 2023

While we aren't the biggest football fans outside of hometown highschool football games and that 00's heartbreaker of a flick, "Remember the Titans", we love a Superbowl party. Why? You guessed it, the food and drinks. We were asked to share a couple of Super Bowl cocktail recipes on Fox13 Seattle in honor of Super Bowl 57 and decided to keep the competition going with a cocktail face off. If you're hosting a party, set up a bar and have guests grab the cocktail for the team they're cheering for, so the rivalries are easy to spot around the room. Trash talk, like chips and dip, is one of our favorite parts of watching a game! Or, simply pick your team by picking your drink from the Eagles vs Chiefs cocktail recipes below!

The beer based Citywide Special (in Philly if you go to a bar and ask for the "special" the bartender will give you a shot and a beer) shandy cocktail allows for a lighter option for those wanting a lighter ABV and the sweet-sour- bitter melding of the IPA based shandy is a delight. The floral notes of the IPA's bitterness complement the lavender in the syrup so floral lovers, this beers for you.

The "Kansas City Ice Water" goes down super smooth thank to the combo of gin and vodka. it may sound weird, but the cocktail lies somewhere inbetween a gin collins and vodka soda and the little bit of gin gives that extra punch of flavor to make the drink exciting. Berry Sage syrup takes it to the next level completly- dare we say all the way to the end zone?

Whoever you're rooting for, we hope your team wins and the drinks are delicious!

Philly's "Citywide Special" Shandy

a play on the “citywide special"- aka a shot and a beer, made our way, with the flavor shot served alongside the beer, then dropped into the beer. Blueberry Lavender’s tart and floral combination makes an IPA, Seattle’s favorite craft beer, transform completely.

  • Can of cold IPA poured into a pint glass until mostly full
  • In a shot glass combine:
  • 1/2 oz lime juice
  • 1/2 oz SGS blueberry lavender syrup
  • Lime wheel and an Eagles flag garnish
Drop the shandy flavor shot into the cold beer and enjoy!

Kansas City Chiefs Ice Water

The vodka-soda/gin and tonic hybrid cocktail, the Kansas City ice Water, that the city is known for is so easy and quick to make. Make it deliciously juicy (and Chief's themed!) when you add our Berry Sage syrup.

  • 3/4 oz gin
  • 3/4 oz vodka
  • 3 oz club soda
  • 1/2 oz Berry Sage syrup
  • juice from half a lime

Combine all ingredients in a collins glass over ice and stir. If you want a layered effect with the syrup, add it last and pour it slowly over the back of a spoon to let it sink to the bottom for an ombre effect.
