Simple Goodness Cold Brew Coffee and Syrup Infused Whipped Cream

October 06, 2021

Cold brew is a refreshing way to drink coffee and when it is sweetened with Simple Goodness syrups, it makes for a low sugar and delicious morning drink.

This recipe is Venise's favorite way to drink coffee, and is served at the Simple Goodness Soda Shop. Cold brew coffee is gaining in popularity in recent years for good reasons. The cold brewing process is fast to pour in the morning, and often gentler for people with stomach sensitivity than espresso or drip coffee. The Simple Goodness syrups are a smooth and exciting match for cold brew, with tons of variations available if you want to get culinarily creative.

For instance, you might try making your cold brew with a bright, South American coffee that says on the bag that it has berry and chocolate notes, and then pairing that cold brew with our Berry Sage or Rhubarb Vanilla syrups. Or, if you're using a pre-made Cold Brew that is made from a dark roast bean, you might pair that rich and bitter coffee with our Apple Pie syrup, so the cinnamon and vanilla spice notes mellow the coffee into the coziest of drinks. Blueberry Lavender is a great though possibly surprising syrup option for a coffee drink, especially when paired with oat milk instead of half and half, and combined with a honey infused whipping cream- Belinda's semi-dairy free choice!

Infusing your whipped cream with a flavor before whipping it can take your drink one very special step further. At the Simple Goodness Soda Shop, we've played around with infusions and syrup pairings such as lime zest and mint infused whipped cream to top Marionberry Mint and Chocolate Sauce Cold Brew Coffees, for a chocolate mojito drink that's summer indulgence in a glass. Our daily infused whipped cream is our Rhubarb Vanilla, the recipe for which follows below.

If you don't care for coffee, or have a partner who doesn't, you can sub in a strongly brewed iced black tea here, and get a delicious morning caffeine hit your own way.

The Simple Goodness Cold Brew Coffee

Why it's great: this is a quick, delicious coffee drink packed with flavor, where you can control the syrup added to save calories without sacrificing enjoyment.

makes 1 serving

Glass: tall cocktail glass

Ingredients:

  • 1 ounce Simple Goodness Sisters' syrup, Venise's favorite is Apple Pie
  • 1 ounce half and half
  • 5 ounces Cold Brew coffee
  • ice
  • fresh grated nutmeg, optional but so good!
  • infused whipped cream, optional, but so good! (recipe follows)

How to make it: combine all measured ingredients in a glass of ice, stir. Top with infused whipped cream, if desired. Position  a microplane or spice grater over the top of your glass, then rub the whole nutmeg on the grater until the spice drops onto the drink in little sprinkles.

Simple Goodness Sisters Syrup Infused Whipping Cream

makes 12 servings

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 ounces Simple Goodness Sisters' syrup
  • 12 ounces heavy whipping cream

How to make it: combine all measured ingredients in an ISI whip cannister and shake to combine before you charge with a gas cartridge.

Or, use a stand mixer with a small bowl or a handheld mixer with a small bowl. Chilling the bowl in advance in the fridge for 20 minutes will help the cream whip faster. Whip the cream and syrup on the highest setting until peaks form (this is when the beaters leave ridges and peaks in the cream as they beat, instead of smooth or lumpy surface.) Store in the refrigerator in a sealed container until use.

Happy drinking, friends! Please continue to tag us on Instagram @simplegoodnesssisters and facebook @simplegoodnessfarm when you mix your drinks. We can't wait to see what you're making with SGS syrups!
