Easy Coffee Drink Recipes with Simple Goodness Syrups

April 25, 2024

Today, I'm thrilled to introduce you to our latest obsession: adding Simple Goodness Syrups to coffee. These little bottles of garden to glass syrup are packed with flavor and crafted with quality ingredients, making them the perfect companions for your coffee creations. Coffee is as woven into the Pacific Northwest, at this point, as the towering evergreen trees themselves. Where we live, there's a lot of rain. Not crazy monsoons or daily downpours like in other states, but presistent grey drizzle from late Fall to Summer. Enter, coffee. It's a cozy extension of a Northwesterner's hands from a young age.

I (Belinda) was 15 when I started to drink coffee but my Grandma Nancy, raised in a Scandanavian family in Kent, WA, will tell you that kids drank coffees that were mostly milk, from elementary school age on. In contrast, my sister Venise didn't start drinking coffee until she was a new mother and trying to fight the sleepiness of those first few years with young kids. Somehow, despite an upbringing an hour from Seattle and college years spent in Portland, OR, another coffee obsessed capital of the States, I escaped ever having been a barista. But as a daily coffee drinker, I am an enthusiast.

My favorite coffee ever is over a campfire, cowboy coffee style in a metal urn, stiff and a tiny bit smokey, with some cream to soften it. My second favorite is served after dinner with dessert, one of those indulgences I picked up from Grandma Nancy, who serves decaf at every event or holiday with cake. And my third favorite, well that is every first morning cup I've ever drank- because isn't that what addiction does? The sweet relief of a real mug (#realmugclub forever) in my hand with coffee piping hot is made even better by adding Simple Goodness syrups. These syrups can easily take your at home coffee to pro-barista coffee shop levels, with robust flavor and clean ingredient lists.

At the Simple Goodness Farm and Soda Shop, we're all about crafting delicious coffee creations that are as simple as they are scrumptious.

keep in mind that these recipes work just as well cold as they do hot. In fact, the flavors of the simple goodness syrups may even come through more pronounced in an iced drink.

Whether you're craving a cozy morning treat or a refreshing pick-me-up in the afternoon, we've got you covered with five easy coffee drink recipes that are sure to delight your taste buds and impress your friends.

So, grab your favorite mug, dust off your trusty coffee maker, (for the record, I am a French Press or an ancient V1 Keurig brewer kind of gal, no espresso shots are pulled at my house, but I still make my own basic versions of these drinks at home with either very concentrated cold brew or strong drip coffee and less milk) and get ready to embark on a flavor-filled journey with us. My thanks go out to Anchorhouse Coffee near us in Buckley, WA for helping us put these drinks together and hosting our photo shoot.

Let's brew up some magic and indulge in the simple goodness of life, one sip at a time. Cheers to coffee bliss!

Simply Good Coffee

Hot simply good coffee

  • 8 ounces brewed coffee (pre-dilluted to manufacturer's instructions)
  • 1/2 ounce to 1 ounce Simple Goodness The Coffee syrup, or choice of syrup, to taste
  • 1 ounce half and half, milk, or alternative milk such as oat milk
  • Optional: top with cold foam or spike it

Pick your favorite mug. Measure in all ingredients and stir. Add more syrup, to taste. Optional: top with sweetened foam, or spike it (recipe below._

Iced Simply good coffee

  • 2 cups ice
  • 6 ounces cold brew coffee (pre-dilluted to manufacturer's instructions)
  • ¾ to 1 ½ ounces Simple Goodness The Coffee syrup, or choice of syrup, to taste
  • 1 ounce half and half, milk, or alternative milk such as oat milk
  • Optional: top with cold foam or spike it

Add ice to a tall glass. Measure in all ingredients and stir. Add more syrup, to taste. Garnish with fresh grated nutmeg. Optional: top with cold foam, recipe below.

Sweetened Foam recipe:

using a handheld frother or coffee machine frothing wand, make foam by mixing a teaspoon of brown sugar, ¼ ounce of cinnamon, 1 ounce of heavy whipping cream and 1 ounce of half and half (can be made with steamed dairy or cold)

Spike it:

use this recipe and your favorite coffee liqueur for a boozy after dinner drink: 3 oz cold brew, 1.5 oz The Coffee Liqueur, 1 oz heavy cream, shake hard for 30 seconds and serve over ice.

Apple Pie Iced Latte

  • 2 cups ice
  • 6 ounces cold brew coffee
  • ¾ to 1 ½ ounces Simple Goodness "Apple Pie" syrup, or choice of syrup, to taste
  • 1 ounce half and half, milk, or alternative milk such as oat milk
  • Optional: top with Apple Pie syrup cold foam or caramel sauce

Add ice and coffee to a tall glass. Measure in syrup and stir. Add more syrup, if needed to taste. Pour cream or choice of milk over. Garnish with fresh grated nutmeg or cold foam. Drizzle caramel over, if desired.

Optional Sweetened cold foam: ½ ounce OMG syrup, 2 ounces milk, 1 ounce half and half, or your preferred ratio. Skim milk will froth more so it is the best if you don’t have a frother but try what you have on hand. Half and half and whole milk will give a creamier texture of foam. It’s a personal preference. Froth with a handheld frother or use a mason jar or cocktail shaker with a tight-fitting lid and shake vigorously for 60 seconds or more until foam forms. Fill the jar only 1/3 of the way full for best frothing.

Chocolate Orange Mocha

  • 4 ounces (double) espresso
  • 1 ounce Orange Vanilla syrup
  • 1-2 tablespoons chocolate syrup, to taste
  • 6 ounces steamed whole milk or alternative milk

First add your syrups to your mug. Then pull shots of espresso or use an espresso machine pod to make a double espresso, pour these in to mix with the syrups. Steam the milk next and pour it slowly over the top in a swirling pattern. Garnish with a dried orange slice.

Pumpkin Spice (Oh My Gourd) Shaken Espresso

  • 2 ounces espresso
  • 1 ounce Oh My Gourd syrup, or to taste
  • 6 ounces whole milk or alternative milk

First add your syrup to a cocktail shaker along with a big scoop of the biggest ice cubes you have. Then pull a shot of espresso or use an espresso machine pod to make espresso, and pour the shot over the ice, into the shaker to mix with the syrups. Cap the shaker and shake this quickly, for about fifteen seconds, to cool the espresso without overly dilluting the coffee while aerating it. Strain into a cup filled to the top with fresh ice, pour cold milk on top and stir. Garnish with a cinnamon stick or spinkle of cinnamon.

Blueberry London Fog Latte with Oat Milk

  • 2 ounces espresso
  • 1 ounce Blueberry Lavender syrup, or to taste
  • 6 ounces steamed oat milk or choice of milk

First add your syrups to your mug. Then pull shots of espresso or use an espresso machine pod to make a double espresso, pour these in to mix with the syrups. Steam the milk next and pour it slowly over the top in a swirling pattern. Garnish with dried flower petals.

The Nordic Cappuccino

  • 2 ounces espresso
  • 1/2 ounce Nordic Coffee syrup, or to taste
  • 4 ounces steamed whole milk, frothed (see below)

First add your syrups to your mug. Then pull shots of espresso or use an espresso machine pod to make a double espresso, pour these in to mix with the syrups. Steam the milk next, steaming until the milk has doubled in size and is very frothy. Pour it slowly over the top in a swirling pattern.

Steaming Milk with an Espresso machine: Pour milk into a metal pitcher. Hold the steaming wand just below the surface of the milk until it doubles in size and is very foamy.

Steam milk on a stovetop: Heat the milk until it is hot to the touch but not yet bubbling/simmering. Then use a milk frother or whisk to froth the milk until it’s very foamy. For a cappuccino you’ll want a good amount of froth: you’re going for ⅓ espresso, ⅓ steamed milk and ⅓ foam.
