The Sisters

Based in Buckley, Washington, sisters Venise Cunningham and Belinda Kelly own the Simple Goodness Cocktail Farm, Simple Goodness Syrups, a line of CPG bottled simple syrups, and Simple Goodness Soda Shop, a cocktail café, tasting room, and event space. They wrote the book "Drink Your Garden: Recipes, Stories and Tips from the Simple Goodness Farm" (Norton,2025) and are on a mission to spread a Happier Hour: one of connection to the land, community, and stories behind great drinks. Their unique syrups can be found in stores across the country.

BELINDA KELLY

Bartender and Recipe Developer

Belinda Kelly is the co-founder of Simple Goodness Sisters, a farm-to-bar beverage brand rooted in seasonal, garden-to-glass ingredients, thoughtful sourcing, and a deep connection to the Pacific Northwest. Her work is centered on creating vibrant, flavor-driven drinks that celebrate what’s growing locally.

Her path into the beverage world began with Happy Camper Cocktail Company, one of the country’s first mobile bar businesses. Known for its creative, seasonal menus, the business earned Seattle’s Best Bar three years in a row before Belinda sold it in 2021. That experience helped shape her signature “farm-to-bar” approach and inspired the launch of Simple Goodness Syrups in 2018—a line of naturally preserved, whole-ingredient syrups crafted from farm-grown and locally sourced ingredients.

In 2020, Belinda and her sister Venise expanded that vision by opening the Simple Goodness Soda Shop, a modern “farm-to-glass” reimagining of the classic soda fountain. Together, they continue to grow the Simple Goodness Sisters brand, bringing seasonal flavors from the farm into everyday drinks.

Belinda is also the co-author of Drink Your Garden: Recipes, Stories and Tips from the Simple Goodness Cocktail Farm (2025), where she shares her approach to capturing and preserving the flavors of each season through gardening and drink-making.

She regularly teaches cocktail and mocktail classes across the Pacific Northwest, focused on “drinking your garden,” zero-waste bartending, and botanical beverages, and consults with brands looking to bring a more authentic farm-to-bar perspective into their work.

Drawing on her expertise on both ends of the farm-to-bar movement, Belinda also consults brands on integrating the movement into their brand story. She loves food in all forms, serving others through serving drinks, bourbon and cold dips, singing Dolly Parton karaoke, and her family of wild boys.

HAPPY HOUR WITH BELINDA

Food and hospitality are Belinda's love languages. The cocktails she loves to make for friends and customers are like quickly scrawled love notes, little moments shared with others to tell them how much they mean to her. For Belinda, cocktail hour is a celebration of the connections she shares with others, as well as her connection to nature and growing things.

Her favorite syrup is Herb Garden, and her drinks are refreshing, bright, dry, and herbaceous, such as a Herb Garden Rye Fizz or a Spritz, but the drinks are always second to the company she shares them with.

VENISE CUNNINGHAM

Co-Founder of Simple Goodness Sisters and Farmer of Simple Goodness Farm

Venise Cunningham is the co-founder of Simple Goodness Sisters and the owner of Simple Goodness Farm, a ten-acre “cocktail farm” in Buckley, Washington. A first-generation farmer, Venise and her husband transformed a former dairy property into a vibrant, sustainable farm dedicated to growing fruits, herbs, and edible flowers specifically for use in beverages.

Since 2017, she has cultivated the land using time-honored practices like composting, perennial planting, animal integration, and crop diversity—methods that support soil health, conserve water, and encourage biodiversity. What started as a bold idea has grown into a thriving farm that supplies ingredients for the Simple Goodness Sisters line of handcrafted syrups and the menu at the Simple Goodness Soda Shop.

Venise co-founded Simple Goodness Sisters with her sister, building a farm-to-bar brand rooted in local sourcing and seasonal flavor. By partnering with other family farms across the Pacific Northwest, she has helped expand the reach of thoughtfully grown ingredients while supporting a stronger regional food system.

She is also the co-author of Drink Your Garden: Recipes, Stories and Tips from the Simple Goodness Cocktail Farm (2025), where she shares her passion for cocktail gardening and creating drinks inspired by what’s growing in the field.

When she’s not managing operations or sharing her farming journey on social media, Venise can often be found working as a real estate agent—helping others grow their own dreams—attending local ag events, or hiding in her garden.

Her guiding belief is simple: feed your dreams, and starve your fears.

HAPPY HOUR WITH VENISE

Venise's happier hour is a walk through the garden at Simple Goodness Farm with a tall, sweet drink in hand, inventorying the day's work and planning the tasks to come. Her favorite drinks are easy sippers with ample herb garnishes that ease her into rest after a full day's activity managing the farm. Venise's favorite syrup flavor is Rhubarb Vanilla Bean, which she puts in almost everything, but especially her favorite: Palomas.

Venise has been known to bring "purse garnishes" to bars, and firmly believes that garnishes ought to be large enough to serve as aromatherapy. Venise is inspired by her Grandma Nanc, the original Happier Hour queen, whose home, heart, and bar is always open to her many friends from many walks of life.
