Here is a glimpse of what our weekends have looked like lately. We have been spending them working on the trailer, stomping puddles, and wrapping our hands around the local’s coffee in attempt to keep warm on these grey days which inevitably lead outside, Henry’s current favorite place.
He loves to stomp and splash after his Grandpa showed him the joy of puddles. He loves to walk around the yard and try to get Leupold to give up his ball. He especially loves walks with dada, who for some reason he has started to call “mama” lately. I wonder if this is because in his eyes we are becoming more equal in importance. He is really in love with his dad lately and I am trying not to feel pushed aside. I married a guy who has become an amazing father and the only downside is sharing my throne.
We’ve taken many trips lately to my dad’s store, the millwork Outlet. Most people know it as “that window place on the black diamond highway” but its so much more. Not just to us, for whom its been a second family home and classroom for the past 25 years, but in general. This place is teeming with unique doors, millwork and a crazy inspiring collection of surplus materials like architectural salvage, rustic lumber, rock & stone and metal. The talent within these doors is inspiring too, cause my dad and his crew can make just about anything. For the Happy Camper renovation project, he will be making custom windows that swing up to reveal the bars. We’ve also been shopping here for counter top materials and cool pieces to use when we make our buffet tables.
We’ve had to say no to a few social engagements lately and all spare time has been spent shopping for sinks and sconces on ebay, searching for affordable mid-century barware, cocktail glasses, and dessert servingware. I even skipped the superbowl entirely to meet my best friend Maria and her other best friend Jen at Jen’s family’s estate sale warehouse for a private shopping hour. I came home with boxes of gorgeous dishes and a belly full of thai food and I have to say, it was one of the best superbowl Sundays I can remember.
I’ll have more photos and videos to show from this latest weekend of Happy Camper work at our first wedding venue open house at Trinity Tree farm soon, but until then wanted to show you my beautiful family and some of the faces who are making this whole thing possible along the way.
