Make new friends but keep the old

This last weekend Deyton and I attended a Farm Potluck at one of our favorite local farms, the Growing Thyme Farm. The Growing Thyme Farm is owned by our friends Tanya and Duane King. In addition to their herd of sheep, flock of chickens and a couple of farm dogs, Tanya and Duane stay busy raising their three children, an adorable three year old daughter and eight month old farm twins Oliver and Porter who will be handy to have around the farm in just a few years.

The Kings hosted the Potluck with the hope of local folks making new friends. Because we live in a rural community and we are all very busy it can be hard to make new friends. So, in response to a Facebook post a local newbie posted looking for friends, Tanya and Duane opened their farm up and invited neighbors to come hang out by their crazy cool outdoor fireplace and eat, drink and meet one another.

In addition to getting to meet new friends and catch up with some old friends, I got to see the Growing Thyme Farm’s latest addition to the farm, lamb twins! There is quite possibly nothing cuter than lambs! Their faces!!!! This get together was exactly what I love about living in rural America, where the parties consist of neighbors getting together around a campfire and snuggling baby animals!

What did you say??? You want to visit the farm too and snuggle those cute baby lambs. Guess what? You are in luck! You can now book a stay at the Growing Tyme Farm on AirBNB. The Kings will welcome you into their home, serve you a farm fresh, finger lickin’ meal made from products grown on the farm that  you will never forget, give you a tour of the farm and if you go in the spring time you may even get in a few animal snuggles!

Thank you Kings for your hospitality! If you are visiting the Enumclaw area in the future, maybe on your way up to ski Crystal Mountain or to catch a concert at the White River Amphitheatre, make sure you check out the bed and breakfast at the Growing Thyme Farm!

The "garden" behind the garden to glass cocktails, Venise is the resident farmer of the Simple Goodness Farm, older sister and goat lover.
