It seems like babies are coming daily to the farm, and the farm bloggers are no exception. Except, luckily, I’ve got a few months until our little man greets the world. That’s right, I said little man! For those who haven’t yet heard, here is the big news:
There’s going to be a new Mr. Kelly!
When we first found out we were going to be parents we felt incredible joy, and a whole lot of shock and awe. And then right away, a whole lot of decisions came down the pipe. When do we tell people? What doctor do we choose? Do we want to find out gender? And of course the one thought that pops up for every new parent (NOT!), should we try to remodel and sell our house and move before the baby comes?
Of course, in our insanity, we said yes to that last one. It feels like the right time to sell, its a good season for real estate, and we’ve been thinking about it for a while. In theory it seems easier to knock this out now than to try to move in a year or two with an active little “helper.”
So now us and the baby are in a dead sprint to the finish. Hopefully before we meet him we’ll have a house and his own nursery to bring him home to, beyond a bed in a dresser drawer. But if that turns out to be the case, then hey, there are a lot of former babies our grandparents’ age who survived just fine. (J/K!)
In all honesty (and sappiness), it won’t matter where we bring him home, as long as the three of us are together. In a world surrounded by maternity blogs, Babies ‘R Us and designer cribs that cost more than any of my thrifted, crafted and found furniture, I’m maintaining focus on the simple goodness of the situation: we’re going to be parents. I still can’t exactly believe that God trusts us that much, but we’re going to do our best. And truthfully, I think we might just kick ass as it.
Now back to that remodel…I promise to update you guys with pictures soon!
