Venise’s Blog: Kid Kicks

I am incredibly anxious for our first kidding experience. I feel like EB has been pregnant FOREVER! Each morning when I go out and feed I check on EB to make sure she is doing okay and to see the progress in her udders and size. For about the last two weeks I have also been feeling her right side while she is eating to see if I can feel any movement. I have read that at about three months you can sometimes feel movement in the doe’s right side (the left side is where the rumen is so if you feel movement it’s probably their working rumen). I had yet to feel anything until this morning when I went out to the barn. EB was happily eating her grain so she stood nice and still. It took about a minute and then I felt what can only be described as a little kick. To make sure I wasn’t making it up I waited for another. It took another minute or so but sure enough I felt three more little kicks. I also felt her udder and it is definitely starting to fill up. Only about five weeks left to go! I can’t wait!

The "garden" behind the garden to glass cocktails, Venise is the resident farmer of the Simple Goodness Farm, older sister and goat lover.
