Winter Wine Tasting: a girl’s weekend guide

If there is one thing my sister and I really love (besides baby goats, fresh chicken eggs, our dogs and our hubbies of course) it is a good girl’s weekend. Creating and keeping close female friendships is one of the biggest accomplishments of my young adulthood and I have found our nights of laughter, shenanigans, and TMI birthing story sessions (yup, no kidding) to be incredibly rewarding!

When checking out the Chelan Winterfest this weekend I couldn’t stop thinking about how fun it would have been to have all of my girls there with me, dancing, wine tasting and making friends with the locals. We’ve had 4 of our bachelorette parties in Lake Chelan now, so I can attest it is a fantastic location for a girl’s weekend.

However, this getaway would work just as well in other great Washington wine locales: Leavenworth, Prosser, or even a day trip out to Woodinville tasting rooms. All that is really required are some fabulous coordinating outfits, chilly weather, and your best [drinking] buddies!

Simply pick a few wineries you love or new ones you’d like to try, arrange for someone’s desperate-for-money little cousin to be your DD (our favorite trick!), get yourselves decked out and proceed to tasting, fabulously.

Wineries to visit in Lake Chelan:
Vin du Lac– live music on weekends and food menu
Tunnel Hill– great patio, friendly pourers, and small snacks
Chelan Ridge Winery– our favorite reds, lovely staff, and a killer view
Karma Vineyards– beautiful grounds and cave tours
Firehouse Tasting room – relaxed and casual tasting room in nearby Manson
Lake Chelan Brewing– to cleanse the palette, so to speak
My Buddy’s Place– because every good Friday night should end in karaoke

Simple Goodness contributor and generally good human being
