Venise’s Blog: EB’s Natural Maternal Instincts Videos

Probably the most amazing part of EB’s delivery  was watching our goat’s natural instincts in action. This was EB’s first pregnancy and it was amazing to see nature at work.  Just like they said she would, she became very friendly and was obviously distraught when we would leave her alone. When she started contracting we felt really bad for her and tried to stay with her as much as possible. When we were sitting with her she would quiet down and relax. While we enjoyed helping her feel comfortable we also noticed that she wasn’t progressing when we would sit with her so we would try to leave periodically so she could pace, stretch out, push and get the kids ready for delivery.

As soon as the kids were delivered EB instantly started cleaning them and talking to them nonstop. She spent over an hour cleaning them and drying them off. She also took to nursing naturally and would nudge her kids into the right spot to help them find her milk. It was so amazing watching her with her kids that I took a few videos. In these videos the kids are less than an hour old. They are already up moving around and figuring out how to nurse with absolutely no help from us 🙂

The "garden" behind the garden to glass cocktails, Venise is the resident farmer of the Simple Goodness Farm, older sister and goat lover.
